“Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
A friend of mine is expecting a sweet little girl. I made this little painting for her after seeing pictures of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to travel to outer space.
We all hope great things for our children. We see shining potential, beauty, intelligence, talent. But the greatest treasure, the brightest light, the shining joy, is knowing they know the God of all truth, righteousness and love. To see the light of God shining through them. Shining like stars.
My youngest sister turned 13 this week. She’s goofy and beautiful and I am just so glad to have her as my little bitty sis.
I made this painting for her.
Thirteen is a big year. (For me it was 17 years ago. Yow!) It was at that age that I first ran to God on my own in a time of trouble. In that moment I found Him. I met my faithful Jesus. The Lord my Peace. What a refuge! The teenage years are wrought with high emotions, hormones and just figuring stuff out. So many fears. Looking back the “troubles” I had then look trivial. But I am so blessed to have met my Savior then. That those minor troubles chased me into His arms. I found my Refuge in those early years. There is no doubt in my mind that it was the mercy of God to draw me to Himself then. Giving me time to grow firm in faith before I met with true tragedy. When grief did finally find me, by the grace of God, my Refuge was home, and nothing could shake me from Him.
This is what I pray for my siblings and for my children. That they will run to Jesus now. That they will find Him faithful. And like the wise man, build their house upon the Rock.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Therefore we will not fear…” -Psalm 46:1-2a
My cousin was recently blessed with a handsome little boy. Well, four months ago. Today I finally gave her this name illustration I’d promised her. I’m very happy with how it turned out. They are a very outdoorsy family. Horses, hiking, skiing and dirt biking. I’ve no doubt this little man is in for an adventurous life. 🙂

My little sister turned 15 this week. I’m so proud of her. She has been memorizing whole chunks and chapters of the Bible along with her youth group. So cool!
I made this little painting for her. Happy Birthday Dessa!
The homeschool group that meets at my church is putting on a play. My friend is the talented and brave director. Coordinating 30+ kids k-12 and getting them all to sing and smile and put on a play is no mean feat. Anyway, I made this poster. It’s a one night performance and it should be mighty entertaining. 🙂
Here are some of my favorite details. 🙂
